Howard Earl Tolbert, 62, of Gaston, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.

Howard, a native of Halifax County, was the son of the late Stuart Tolbert. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Tolbert.

He is survived by his daughters, Tracy T. Olesnevich and her husband, Mick, of Roanoke Rapids, and Dodi Tolbert of Baltimore, MD; his mother, Frances Tolbert of Gaston; sister, Shirley Epps; brothers, Jimmy Tolbert and his wife, Dawn, and Danny Tolbert, all of Gaston; two granddaughters, Bethany and Brooke Lassiter; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 16 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.
